Historically in USA, Chinese Medicine has provided care for those who were denied access to mainstream medicine. In our attempt to make acupuncture accessible to everyone, especially to those who don’t have access to doctors or hospitals because they can’t afford healthcare anymore, we run a free clinic every Wednesday from 5PM to 7PM.
Chinese Medicine is a unique energetic system that is based on the unity of body, spirit and mind. Auricular acupuncture is part of this powerful medicine. The entire human anatomy is holographically projected onto the external surface of the ear. Inserting acupuncture needles in the reflex points of the ear treats physical conditions in other areas of the body as well as psycho-emotional states. Ear acupuncture is an efficient method of treating all sorts of things, from headaches and allergies to addictions and pain disorders.
The ear acupuncture protocol we offer in our clinic was first introduced by Lincoln Recovery Center in New York to reduce the symptoms of opiate withdrawal and to prevent relapse, but it’s scope is much larger than that. It promotes a deep meditation-like state, relieves stress and chronic pain, calms anxiety and alleviates depression.
Since recovery from addiction mirrors the recovery path of those who suffer from PTSD, the same protocol treats both.
Participants report improved general health and increase of vitality, reduced anger and pain, more energy and less anxiety, improved ability to focus and decrease of chronic pain. Acupuncture promotes full night sleep and fewer bad dreams. Many report that they’re able to reduce medication dosages for a wide variety of symptoms related to post-traumatic stress, including pain and insomnia. It is incredibly powerful for stress reduction and for decreasing the number of flashbacks and nightmares that traumatized people usually have to deal with.
The treatment is free and no appointment is necessary. During the session, everyone sits fully clothed in a room together. Once the needles are inserted participants close their eyes and rest for 30-45 min to allow needles do their work. It is precisely during this resting time that tremendous healing takes place. When the entire group feels calm and quiet, each of the participants receive much stronger benefit from the treatment. The session creates a supportive community for those who participate.
Before individuals can overcome chemical addiction, attention must be given to the alleviation of mental and physical stress as well as restoration of the community infrastructure.
Every survivor faces enormous mental and physical stress not only as individuals, but also in their families and communities.
NADA protocol may be supplemented with additional ear, scalp or body points. It delivers quick results and works harmoniously with other more conventional treatments such as counseling and medication.
Auricular acupuncture is a safe, effective and non invasive treatment available at no cost. Come and see what it’s all about and bring a friend!
